The wilderness of Utah was home to Native American societies that have left their mark in the canyons and deserts. We have created an itinerary which includes visits to ancient archeological sites, National Monuments, the impressive San Juan River and cliff dwellings.

From Bluff we will travel to nearby washes and canyons to see Anasazi ruins, dwellings and petroglyphs. A visit to Muley Point affords us a vista of Monument Valley and the Four Corners region. Also included are walks at Natural Bridges National Monument where water has eroded the terrain into tall bridge formations.

ROCK ART

Our itinerary would not be complete without a trip on the San Juan River. Cutting deeply across the heartland of the departed Anasazi and into rock layers recording a quarter of a billion years of geologic time, the San Juan is a classic river canyon. Guided by professionals we'll spend 2 nights camping on the banks of the river. All equipment will be provided. The high quality of the meals is a staple of river trips, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the variety. No experience is necessary for this ride which includes hikes into side canyons and to riverside ruins.

Trip begins and ends in Cortez, Colorado

Cost: $2295
