Water

You know how important water is. We know how important water is. Wherever we travel we make sure you have access to pure drinking water. When you are traveling, especially flying, keep your water bottle handy and DRINK. The cabin air on planes is very dry and dehydration contributes to the discomforts of jet lag.

When you're hiking it is important to stay hydrated. Muscle function declines as you become dehydrated. Worse than having to pee while you're on the trail is returning to the hotel with a pounding headache caused by dehydration. You're also more susceptible to the cold and illnesses when you become dehydrated. Coffees, sodas and fruit juices are of some help but generally they contain too much sugar and caffeine, both of which contribute to dehydration. Match your soda and coffee consumption with water if you drink them.

Carry your water in a bottle that won't leak if tipped on its side or turned upside down. Bike bottles and the exercise bottles with the pull out nipples or straws in them LEAK. The plastic water bottles that you buy designer water in are ok, though they were not designed to be reused. You can also buy heavy duty water bottles from a camping supply store. The wide mouth Nalgene bottles are practically indestructible. Carry a quart size bottle (at least!).
