Socks

Return to clothing list

Socks help protect your feet from blisters and the cold. Hikers and walkers often like to wear a combination of a thin liner sock and a heavier over sock. This combination helps to reduce friction on your feet, minimizing potential blisters. A polypropylene or wool/poly blend is best. Polypro helps to wick the moisture away from you feet. Cotton tends to absorb the moisture and keep it near your skin. Damp skin is more likely to blister or develop hot spots.

There are many choices of sock design these days. Speciality socks are made for hiking, walking, rollerblading, running, etc. Check out our retailers guide to find out how much you've been missing by only having plain old boring socks.
